School of Engineering

About the School

Aimed at training students in areas of innovation and application engineered for a better environment, the School of Engineering provides Quality programmes that are delivered by competent and dedicated staff. Students acquire the technological, methodological and social competencies that enable them to be Adaptive and Responsive to the changing needs of the global economy.

The School is committed to providing market-relevant engineering programmes for our students so as to nurture an inventive & entrepreneurial spirit, and values & attributes that will help them to be successful in their careers and in life.

Curriculum & Pedagogy

The School adopts a competency-based training approach. Classroom teaching and hands-on practice-oriented training combine to enhance the learning of concepts and acquisition of technical skills.

Students will be exposed to individual and group work, e-learning and assigned industry attachments or undertake industrial projects.

Courses

The following courses are available at the School of Engineering at ITE College East:

  • Nitec in Facility Technology (Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration)

Training Facilities

At ITE College East, there are various facilities available for students to carry out hands-on training and equip them with industry relevant skills. Collaborations with established industrial players have also been made to provide state-of-the-art training centres for students (Centres of Technology & Industrial Partnership Centres).

Engineering Labs and Workshop

Building Automation System Lab - Designed to simulate an actual Building Command Centre, students in this lab will experience the entire process of installing, programming, commissioning and troubleshooting a typical Building Automation System.
Computer and Networking Lab - Students can carry out hands-on practice in setting up a wireless LAN system for Small Office or Home Office in this lab.
Industrial Automation and Robotics Lab - The training conducted at this facility supports the capability development in computer numerical control (CNC) machining, industrial conveyor systems, programmable logic controller systems and automatic storage/retrieval systems (ASRS).
Machining Workshop - Equipped with centre lathes, vertical milling and turning machines, this workshop facilitates the different training of machining techniques in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum. The machines in the workshop are capable of producing precision machine parts for the industry.
Metrology Lab - The Metrology Laboratory is equipped with precision gauges, an auto-collimator, an optical projector, a coordinate measurement machine (CMM) and other precision measuring tools. The laboratory set-up also provides training in measurement and control tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) software.

Project Labs and Workshops

The project labs and workshops provide students with a conducive environment to perform both campus and industry projects. These facilities are equipped to allow our students to experience real industry work in a training environment.

IT Labs

Besides the common IT training facilities available for e-learning and web-centric delivery of our curriculum, the School of Engineering is also equipped with Engineering CAD Labs. To support the training in engineering design and simulations, these laboratories are equipped with computer-aided design tools to produce 2D engineering drawings, 3D models of Mechanical systems, and Building systems. Some of the CAD software available in these laboratories includes Inventor Professional Series, AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Revit Series.
